Game Play Instructions

How to Play

Ahoy Pirates Adventure is a free online treasure hunting and coin collecting game where you must work your way through the level and collect all the coins without running into enemies. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

  • Playing the Game
    • Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move around the board while avoiding enemies and collecting coins. Each level is beat when there are no coins remaining.
    • Dying
      • You are given 3 lives per game.
      • You die whenever an enemy touches you unless you have a power up sword.
      • When you die you start at the position you were in when you began that stage.
      • If your game is over you can restart on any of the levels you have already played.
        • Levels
          • Each level must be beat sequentially.
          • Your progress in this 10-level game is stored in your local web browser.
          • If you die you can restart the game starting on any level you have already played.
          • Controls
            • Your player keeps walking straight until he runs into something.
            • In the upper left corner there is a button to expand the game to full screen.
            • In the upper right corner there are buttons to turn sound on or off and to pause the game.
            • Strategy
              • Hard Coins
                • Avoid enemies and try to collect the hardest to get coins while the enemies are furthest away from those areas.
                • If a particular coin is in a hard to get spot (like behind spikes or down a long path with no other ways out) it can make sense to get that coin last so you do not need to cross over spikes twice and do not need to go back out the long and risky path.
                • If a particular part of a level is hard and you keep dying and restarting the game on that level then it can make sense to do the hardest part first so you can beat that part before doing the rest of the level.
                • Enemies
                  • If enemies are near try to ensure you have at least 2 escape paths available.
                  • After you run over a sword you will be invincible for a period of time. The transition from invincible to not is quite sudden, so it is not good to get too greedy while chasing down enemies.
                  • You can intentionally have your character go down a path you do not want in order to turn around and pause in position facing a wall.
                  • Your character moves faster than your enemies, so you can squeeze through some tight fits you probably would not try in a game like Pac Man.
                  • You can kill nearby enemies by running into TNT, but if you do not run away quickly you can also kill yourself in the process.
                  • Scoring
                    • Each enemy you kill is worth 200 points. If you kill multiple enemies in a row it keeps doubling to where you go from 200 to 400 to 800 to 1600.
                    • Your score is maintained across levels so long as you are still on the same game play.
                    • Your high score is stored in your local web browser.
